As many of you know, Finn Miles is a member of the Napkin Sketch Collective, a group of artists, musicians, film-makers, and all around thoughtful people in Des Moines, IA. This year was our second year in the 48 Film Project; our film “Apertures” won best cinematography!

Finn Miles is a proud member of Napkin Sketch, a new “collective” of artists and creative entrepreneurs in Des Moines, IA. More importantly, the collective is a group of friends who collaborate on projects and spur each other on to greater things.
Here’s what happens when you begin a distributed creative services and art organization…you begin having text chat discussions on whether your business cards should be made out of felt or woodburned on to bamboo!

Josh: hehe, not quite, but fancier than the standard thing
they’d be made of wood with the text burnt in and a design on the back thats like a puzzle piece of a bigger design

and when the puzzle comes together it’s the entire NS logo on the puzzle!
In 2008 a random group of friends and associates living in the Drake area of Des Moines happened upon a colorful little flier announcing the 48 Film Project? “Do you guys wanna do this?” asked Paul? “Yeah, sure. Sounds like fun.” was the general response. From this nonchelant exchange a seed of creativity was born and the newly christened “Napkin Sketch” group found.

During the 2008 48 Film Project this team, comprised of Josh Larson, Jessie Larson, Wayde Stover, Erin Stover, Scott Yoshimura, Scott Gratton, Paul Gratton, Matt Shwery, and Ben Whitmer made a fantastic film, and found new friends, and a new passion in filmmaking and creative development.
Now this team is preparing for the 2009 48 Film Project, as well as looking at other creative arts projects in the Central Iowa area. Keep track of of our fun antics here at Napkin-sketch.com!
