What a wonderful Dogtownfest! The weather was sunny, not too cold, and an eclectic group of people from the Drake neighborhood came out to see local music, local vendors, and celebrate their community.
It’s ever-so-kind when the local press supports the endeavors of resident musicians. Cityview Magazine, Central Iowa’s Alternative Newsweekly, just reviewed our recent EP release “Telltale Heart.”
I’d tell you more, but I think you should just read the review…do it now!
For your gracious support of $5 we’ll leak title track from the EP (Winteresque) to you as soon as the final mixing and mastering is completed…plus exclusive video updates!
It’s a bit like a national good-idea telethon, Kickstarter is a little experiment we’re embarking on to partner with you (yes you) on our next EP. The songs have been written, now we’re waiting for friends, fans, and fools to help us get into the studio. Of course, there are great “prizes” at various gift levels. Check it out!
Last.fm is a great online jukebox, similar to Pandora, only I like it far better. We’ve set up a “Finn Miles” radio selection where you’ll hear our music, as well as other artists that are similar (Wilco, M.Ward, Sufjan Stevens). It’s a great way to get a fresh mix of new tunes!
How often is it that so many great Central Iowa bands assemble in one location? C’mon out to Dogtownfest, just east of Drake University. It’s a great neighborhood, and a good time to see some of the most enlightened, up-and-coming musical acts in Des Moines. Sept. 26th, 3-11 pm….be there!
The Des Moines Music Coalition is stepping up their efforts to make Des Moines a forerunner in live music. Check out their upcoming “Music Saves” program this Wednesday night at the Vaudeville Mews…you won’t regret it!
Oh, and by the way…Finn Miles is playing Wednesday night after the Music Saves program! (show starts at 9pm!)
